"Viral Video: Stampede-Like Chaos in Gujarat as Hundreds of Job-Seekers Crowd Walk-In Interview"

A stampede-like situation happened in Ankleshwar in Gujarat's Bharuch district when about 800 people showed up for walk-in interviews for 40 job openings, an official said on Thursday. A video showed hundreds of job seekers lining up for the interview at a hotel on Tuesday.

The crowd was so big that the railings around the building collapsed as people pushed each other toward the hotel's entrance. Photos and videos on social media showed a large number of men with backpacks struggling to stand on a ramp. The railing of the ramp finally collapsed, causing several people to fall off, but no one was injured, according to news agency PTI.

Bharuch Superintendent of Police Mayur Chavda said, "According to our information, a company arranged walk-in interviews for about 40 job openings in five different roles."

"The company booked a hall in a hotel in Ankleshwar, expecting around 150 candidates. However, 800 people showed up, and company officials had to shut the interview hall doors to control the crowd, which led to the situation shown in the video," the official said.
