JNU- "Jahangir National University" title triggers huge Chaos across India

The poster for a new Bollywood movie called "JNU: Jahangir National University" has caused a lot of talk on X (formerly Twitter), splitting people's opinions. The title of the movie is a clear play on words with Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Scholar Irrfan Habib highlighted how JNU has faced relentless attacks from political opponents and its students have been unfairly portrayed. He emphasized, 'JNU has been a constant target, simply because it fosters freedom of thought and provides a platform for underprivileged students from across India. It's been a vibrant melting pot of diverse ideas and cultures. This relentless targeting and undermining of such a prime institution stem solely from its commitment to intellectual freedom.'" he wrote-



The post became really popular on the microblogging site, getting more than 619K views and 6.5K likes. Lots of people on the internet commented, criticizing the movie for making respected schools and students look bad for a political reason. One person on X accused Adarsh, saying, "But why are you promoting a politically motivated, biased, and propaganda movie? You are also part of the problem."

Scholar Irrfan Habib talked about how the school has been constantly attacked by political enemies and its students made to seem less human. "JNU has been a big deal. Only because it allows freedom of thought, it has given a chance to students from all over India who don't have much. It's been a real mix of different ideas and cultures. This is why this important school is being attacked and made smaller every day," he wrote.
