Virat Kohli Opens, Sanju Samson at No. 3: India's 'Unbeatable' XI for T20 World Cup 2024 Without Yashasvi Jaiswal | IPL | World Cup T20 |

India is set to chase their ICC trophy dreams at the T20 World Cup 2024. They start their journey against Ireland on June 5, with a thrilling match against Pakistan on June 9. Led by Rohit Sharma, they'll also play the USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15. To reach the Super 8s, India needs to finish in the top two of their group.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and the rest of the squad have already arrived in the USA and begun their preparations. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya are expected to join the team before the warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1.

India's squad for the T20 World Cup has sparked quite a bit of debate and left many experts disappointed. Since the tournament follows the IPL, many felt that IPL's top performers should have been selected. However, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee opted for a more experienced team instead of sending a young squad to the USA and West Indies.

Players like Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Rinku Singh, who shone in IPL 2024, were left out. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, despite having a poor IPL season, secured their spots in the team.

India's Dream Team: Rohit and Kohli to Open in a Power-Packed XI for T20 World Cup 2024

Choosing the best playing XI is going to be a tough task for Rohit Sharma. One of the biggest decisions he faces is picking his opening partner. Yashasvi Jaiswal is in the squad, but Virat Kohli also performed well as an opener in the IPL.

Most experts support Jaiswal to open, but India might be tempted to let Kohli take that spot. This would make room for Sanju Samson, who had an outstanding IPL 2024. The T20 World Cup will be different from the IPL, where scores often exceeded 200 runs. In the USA, the conditions will be tougher for batting, favoring players who are technically sound and good at rotating the strike.

Having Kohli open with Rohit Sharma, who can go into beast mode, might be a winning strategy for India.

India also needs to decide whether to play two pacers and three spinners or the other way around. Given the conditions in the USA, a spin-heavy attack seems likely, with Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav featuring in the playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are expected to be the two pacers in the team.

KKR Clinches 3rd IPL Trophy, Dominates Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024 Finals

On a thrilling Sunday, May 26, Kolkata Knight Riders triumphed with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, clinching the IPL 2024 title. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, KKR chased down a modest target set by SRH at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, marking their third IPL championship win.

The final match unfolded as a lopsided affair, with KKR dominating every facet of the game. Pacers Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, and Andre Russell delivered stellar performances, restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad to a meager total of 113 runs, the lowest ever in an IPL finals match.

In their pursuit of victory, Kolkata faced an early setback with the dismissal of the in-form opener Sunil Narine. However, Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz stepped up with a solid partnership of 91 runs for the second wicket, making the chase one of the smoothest in tournament history. After a gap of nine years, Kolkata Knight Riders proudly lifted the prestigious trophy once again.

The standout performer of the match was Venkatesh Iyer, who showcased his brilliance with an unbeaten knock of 52 runs off just 26 balls, including four boundaries and three towering sixes. He sealed the victory for KKR with a stellar performance in the 11th over. Although Pat Cummins and Shahbaz Ahmed managed to take a wicket each for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan struggled, proving costly for their team in the crucial final.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Cummins led Sunrisers Hyderabad, fielding an unchanged lineup. Despite their impressive performances earlier in the season, SRH faltered against KKR's formidable pace attack from the outset, failing to mount a significant challenge.

Cummins, batting lower down the order, emerged as the top scorer for his team with 24 runs off 19 balls, while Aiden Markram struggled to contribute with 20 runs off 23 balls. Andre Russell emerged as the star bowler for KKR, claiming three crucial wickets for just 19 runs, supported by Starc and Harshit Rana, who each secured two wickets.

It was indeed a memorable victory for Kolkata Knight Riders, and their performance in the IPL 2024 finals will be etched in cricketing history as a testament to their resilience and dominance on the field.
