Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre: 'Narendra Modi Completely Helpless' Over NEET-PG Controversy

On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the central government for postponing the NEET-PG 2024 exam. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is powerless against the paper leak racket and the education mafia. Gandhi also claimed that the BJP government is the biggest threat to students' futures.

"Now NEET PG is postponed too! This is another sad example of the ruined education system under Narendra Modi," Rahul Gandhi wrote on X in Hindi.

He called the BJP-led central government "incompetent."

"It's now clear that Modi, who used to silently watch, is completely helpless against the paper leak racket and education mafia. Narendra Modi's incompetent government is the biggest threat to students' futures - we must save the country's future from it," he added.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) examination, which was scheduled for Sunday. The ministry said a new date for the exam will be announced soon.

"Considering the recent allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive exams, the Ministry of Health has decided to thoroughly assess the robustness of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination processes, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students," the ministry's statement read.

NEET UG 2024 Row LIVE Updates:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2024 results on June 4, ten days early. This caused a stir as it showed 67 All-India Rank 1 holders, which is unusual. Concerns have been raised about grace mark distribution and exam integrity due to reports of paper leaks. The NEET, overseen by the Ministry of Education’s NTA, has faced criticism for its integrity in selecting candidates for undergraduate medical seats.

Petitions to cancel the exam were quickly filed in the Supreme Court and several High Courts, citing suspected leaks and irregularities. In response to the criticism, the NTA and the government canceled the grace marks and announced a re-examination on June 23 for 1563 students who lost exam time. Some petitioners have also requested an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Supreme Court will meet on July 8, 2024, to discuss the potential cancellation of NEET 2024.
