Rohit Sharma Hails Key Architect of India's Thrilling 6-Run T20 World Cup Victory Over Pakistan | India Vs Pakistan | World Cup

India captain Rohit Sharma praised star bowler Jasprit Bumrah after India's thrilling six-run win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup Group A match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Bumrah was the main reason behind India's remarkable turnaround after being bowled out.

"He's getting better and better. We all know what Bumrah can do. I don't want to talk too much about him; I want him to stay in this mindset throughout the World Cup. He's a genius, and we all know that. The crowd was amazing, as always. They never disappoint wherever we play. I'm sure they're going home with big smiles. It's just the start; we have a long way to go," said India captain Rohit Sharma at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Apart from Rishabh Pant, who was India's top scorer, no other batter made a significant contribution to the total, adding to Rohit's problems. At one point, India lost four wickets for seven runs and were in danger of being bowled out for under 100 runs.

"We didn't bat well enough. Halfway through our innings, we were in a good position. We didn't build enough partnerships and fell short with the bat. We talked about how every run matters on a pitch like that. There was enough in the pitch; it was a good wicket, to be honest, compared to the last game. With a bowling lineup like ours, you feel confident to get the job done. Halfway through their batting, we got everyone together and said that if it can happen to us, it can happen to them. Little contributions from everyone can make a huge difference," Rohit concluded after India successfully defended their lowest total against Pakistan in a T20 World Cup.

With two back-to-back wins, India is almost certain of a place in the Super 8 stage. India will next play the United States of America (USA) on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

Naseem Shah Inconsolable as India Beats Pakistan 7-1: Rohit Sharma and Shaheen Afridi's Gestures Fail to Console

Naseem Shah faced the tough task of scoring 16 runs off the last 3 balls. He swung his bat with all his might, hitting a scoop shot for a four and another sliced boundary off the second-to-last ball. With 8 runs needed off the final ball, the match was in India's favor. Arshdeep Singh delivered a perfect yorker, securing India's win. The emotional weight was too much for Naseem, and he couldn't hold back his tears.

Naseem, known for hitting consecutive sixes against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup two years ago, couldn't replicate his heroics this time. Despite Shaheen Afridi's comforting embrace and India captain Rohit Sharma's pat on the back, Naseem's disappointment was evident. In the end, only one team could win, and last night it was Rohit’s Team India.

India secured a brilliant victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup in New York on Sunday. Inspired by a great bowling performance, the Men in Blue achieved a six-run win against their archrivals.

This was India's seventh win against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. Led by a valiant display from Rishabh Pant, Team India posted 119 runs. Pakistan seemed on track for a famous win, but Jasprit Bumrah spoiled their plans with another excellent spell in the T20 World Cup.

The Mumbai Indians bowler took three important wickets of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Iftikhar Ahmed, putting Pakistan in a tough spot and almost out of the tournament.

Rishabh Pant not only impressed with his batting but also with his exceptional wicketkeeping skills, earning him the fielding medal, a tradition since the ICC ODI World Cup last year. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri visited the dressing room to present the medal to the Delhi Capitals captain and showered him with praise.

"All I can say about Rishabh is, brilliant performance. I was emotional when I heard about his accident. Seeing him in the hospital was tough. And for him to come back from that and play in one of the biggest games, India vs Pakistan, is truly heartwarming."
