Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee agreed to the majority of junior physicians' five demands during a demonstration. On Monday, she announced the transfer of some senior officers from the Kolkata Police and the state health department, including Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

She also announced that the Director of Medical Education (DME), Director of Health Services (DHS), and Deputy Commissioner (North Division) will be replaced. The Deputy Commissioner was accused of providing money to the parents of a victim at RG Kar Hospital.

These choices were confirmed in meeting minutes signed by Chief Secretary Manoj Pant and 42 doctors who took part in talks to terminate the RG Kar hospital protests. Here are the key points from the meeting:

  • The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Forum (WBJDF)'s first demand is being investigated by the CBI, and the state government will help speed up the process of bringing justice.
  • The Police Commissioner of Kolkata and the Deputy Commissioner of the North Division will be transferred as requested.
  • The present Director of Medical Education (DME) and Director of Health Services (DHS) will both be transferred.
  • The state has allocated ₹100 crores to improve hospital facilities, including as installing CCTV and updating washrooms, in cooperation with medical specialists.
  • The Rogi Kalyan Samity will be reorganized to accommodate more members of the medical community.
  • To increase hospital safety and security, a Task Force will be formed, directed by the Chief Secretary and other top authorities, including junior doctor members.
  • A stronger grievance redressal procedure will be implemented in hospitals.
The junior doctors were encouraged to return to work, and both parties committed to collaborate to address future difficulties. However, the WBJDF disagreed with the decision not to discipline the Deputy Commissioner (Central) and the transfer of the Health Secretary. Additional conversations will be required to address safety concerns and the culture of threat in medical colleges.

RG Kar CBI News: The CBI increased its pressure on the Trinamool Congress ahead of the fourth hearing in the RG Kar Medical College doctor's rape-murder case in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Early on Tuesday, the agency raided six places in Kolkata, including the home of a TMC MLA, in connection with the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital corruption investigation.

Just one day ago, doctors in Kolkata scored a big win when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee agreed to several of their principal requests. The Mamata government now faces additional problems following a raid on Trinamool MLA Sudipta Roy's residence and nursing home in Sinthee. Sudipta Roy also serves as the chairman of RG Kar Medical's Patients Welfare Association.

Another ED team raided the residence of Sandeep Jain, a medical and drug trader, on Ballygunge Circular Road.

Earlier in the investigation into the RG Kar Medical College corruption case, the ED raided three other places, including Sandip Ghosh's residence in Chinar Park. Ghosh's parents were also questioned. The agency also searched the home of Chandan Lauha, Sandip Ghosh's close acquaintance, as well as the office of a medical equipment supplier.
