"Reliance and NVIDIA Join Forces to Drive AI Innovation in India"

Reliance and Nvidia have partnered to develop advanced AI infrastructure in India, with the goal of meeting the country's growing demand for AI technology. This collaboration will develop India's own huge language model, trained in the country's multiple languages and focused on AI applications that can benefit the Indian people.

The AI infrastructure will be significantly more powerful than India's fastest supercomputer. Nvidia will share its cutting-edge technology, such as the GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and the DGX Cloud, an AI supercomputing service. This will serve as the cornerstone for AI development at Reliance Jio, the telecom business of Reliance Industries.

The new AI infrastructure will let Reliance Jio's 450 million consumers have access to AI-powered services. It will also help scientists, developers, and startups in India. AI may help rural farmers with local-language weather updates and crop pricing, doctors with medical diagnoses, and even anticipate cyclones to safeguard vulnerable populations.

The infrastructure will be housed in data centers, which will eventually grow to 2,000 MW. Jio will handle the project, leveraging its expertise in mobile networks, 5G, and fiber infrastructure.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that India has the scale, data, and expertise to lead in AI, and that this collaboration with Reliance will enable India to develop its own AI solutions. Mukesh Ambani, Reliance's chairman, stated that this project will stimulate India's technical advancement in the same way as Jio did. Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, stated that the collaboration with Nvidia will result in a secure and sustainable AI infrastructure to propel India's AI future.

“As India advances from a country of data proliferation to creating technology infrastructure for widespread and accelerated growth, computing and technology super centres like the one we envisage with NVIDIA will provide the catalytic growth just like Jio did to our nation’s digital march,” said Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries. “I am delighted with the partnership with NVIDIA and looking forward to a purposeful journey together.”

“At Jio, we are committed to fueling India’s technology renaissance by democratizing access to cutting-edge technologies, and our collaboration with NVIDIA is a significant step in this direction,” said Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm. “Together, we will develop a state-of-the-art AI cloud infrastructure that is secure, sustainable and deeply relevant across India, accelerating the nation’s journey towards becoming an AI powerhouse.
